Description
Published in 1920 as the United States was entering the “Golden Age of Sports,” this book is a one-of-a-kind piece of tennis history. Within the pages are elaborate explanations for 34 errors that were often committed by both beginning and advanced tennis players. The passage for each error contains a description of the problem, the damage caused to the player and game, and the remedy. Many of the descriptions are accompanied by images of players engaged in the errors or displaying the ways to fix them. Charles LaRue wrote the book because he believed that most works on tennis failed to answer the major questions of average players. He states in his preface that the average player “really yearns for only one thing in print, namely, to be told what his errors are and how to correct them.”
